My week April 20-27

This week has been filled with all sorts of happy and fun times/thoughts.

A friend of mine who stood up as my maid of honour when I married my best friend 2 years ago is getting married this summer and asked me to be her MOH.  I was honoured but the wedding is a couple of months away so now it is time to get my tushie in gear and take care of my responsibilities.  This week I mailed out the shower invites and really finalized everyone's duties and got a real handle on the shower.  I am happy to say that I think it will be a beautiful shower and I can't wait to post some pictures and to celebrate this wonderful time with K.

It turns out that Ottawa has a Poutine fest, who knew??  So a few of us from work went to check it out (since it is only a few block from my office) and I am happy to say it was YUMMY.

Of course I now must go to the gym or all that gravy and cheese will find a permanent place on my tushie.

I was going to pick up my Maid of Honour dress but the friend that was going to go with me had something come up at the last minute.  Since it is no fun getting the dress by myself I decided instead to make the cookies/s'mores for craft night, try and get the tires changed on the car (that didn't workout but I have an appointment next weekend) and squeeze in a trip to the gym.
Since I was pretty impressed with myself for being so productive (before 1030am on a Saturday) I had a great sushi lunch with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while.
It was our monthly craft night this week and sadly I forgot to take pictures (we were just having such a fun time).  But it was a great success and a lot of fun.

It has been a great week, full of productivity and fun.
How was your week, did you get to do anything that made you feel pretty awesome?

Sping is in the air

I know that we have had a couple nice days, but today I find it cold, windy and dank outside. I drove my scooter to work this morning and my legs and hands (yes I was wearing gloves) were so cold when I got to work that they hurt.  All I could think of was it is after Easter IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE SPRING!!!

Now since it was about 8am and anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a morning I thought maybe, just maybe my little temper tantrum might have less to do with the weather, and more to do with my lack of coffee.  So after drinking some Joe I decided to check out the weather again, and walk down the street to get more coffee (Yup I have a problem).

Well it was still freakin cold outside.  My new Bench fleece jacket (Thank-You lil' sis) was not doing a great job of keeping the chill out.

As I was about to throw another tantrum vocalize my annoyance, I remembered this picture that I took the other day.

Come on little guys grow!!!
Do you see that??  There are little green sprouts from a potted plant that has been in my apartment since last year sometime.  I think they are tulips (the hubs says that they are) but I really can't remeber.

That little picture removed any notion I had of having a tantrum being displeased and reminded me that even though today might be a little cold, winter is indeed over and the pretty flowers and greenery associated with Spring are fighting their way into bloom.

So if you are a little cold and feeling annoyed like I was today, just remember this long, cold horrible winter really has come to an end, and I have the little sprouts to prove it.

My Week Apr. 14-20

Happy Easter to Everyone!!!

My week was a pretty great one.  I had a short week at work and a belated sushi dinner with a friend from work.  It was a great time to go out, eat, chat and just have a fun evening.

For Easter weekend this year we did a super quick flyby to Southern Ontario.  We left Friday morning and came back Saturday evening.  It was really quick but a lot of fun.
The hubs starting the road trip to Southern Ontario
We stopped at the Big Apple to bring a pie with us
These candy apples looked amazing
All these amazing Easter treats.  It was a little sad we were on a budget.
The workers working hard to make the yummy pies.  It was like being at Willy Wonkas
The hubs and the papa hanging out
2 generations
Me and the hubs enjoying some family time
The East egg I painted for the contest.  I WON!!! first year ever (I think I came in 7th - who cares I got bubbles)

The hubs working on his masterpieces (sorry I missed a pic of them) but his egglien won 3 place (little kids won above him.

Our dinner place holders.  Very yummy and festive
The beautiful dinner table set for our yummy turkey dinner
Our Easter visit was a quick one, but the drive back the next day way beautiful
The hubs and I made a stop on the way home in Port Hope for a little Arby's fix.  It has been over 2 years since I have had any.  It was just like I remembered.
We missed Easter service this year (really tired from our mini roadtrip craziness) but we had a great time together on anyways.

I attempted my first ever lamb roast for dinner tonight.  It was a super yummy "Sunday dinner" can't wait to be making more of these in our new home.

I hope you all had a safe and amazing Easter with your families.

My Week (Apr. 7-13)

This week has been an AMAZING week.  I think I have actually had every emotion possible.  The main reason for that is............................WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!

Yup the hubs and I have been looking for a little bit and last weekend we saw a house that we really liked so we moved our little tushies and put an offer in.  This week we have just been dealing with all the stuff associated with closing on a house.

We didn't really tell people because we didn't want to jinx anything but we firmed  up the offer and we offically close on June 19th (only 2 months away).

These are really just teaser pictures but stay tuned, there will be LOTS more photos to come as the hubs and I take the crazy journey of getting our first house.

Even though we just bought a house I still have a bit of a shopping budget, so I went out this weekend with my friend B and we hit up a Value Village that has slightly nicer clothing than the one down from my house.

I was able to pick up a really cute coral dress for an upcoming bridal shower, and a tank top for work.  All while staying within my budget.

After shopping the hubs and I went by our storage unit and got my scooter out.  I have been looking forward to this for the last 2 months.  It is official spring has finally arrived in the capital
The hubs making sure its safe for me to ride later
The hubs and I grabbed a late night movie, and it was a pretty great date night.  I totally suggest that if you haven't seen it you go and check it out.  I don't remember seeing the first Captian America and I understood all that was going on.  My only advice wait until the very end of the credits to leave.

And to round out my awesome week a spontanous brunch with M.  It had been a while since we had gotten together and I was happy that we were able to make it work on such short notice.

It was a great week, and I can't wait to see what next week brings.
What was your week like?  Did you do anything unexpected and life altering?

DIY Gold Accent Vase

I have been stalking checking out other blogs and websites and I have seen a few different accented vases.  I have loved them but been a bit afraid to give them a go myself.

The other day I decided to put on some big girl pants and give it a whirl.

I had a left over gold oil paint sharpie from a previous craft night, and a vase that I had been eyeing for my maiden voyage.
I looked up a couple reference pictures on the internet and just got to work.  I picked a small area and started making dots.  I did find that instead I should make little circles.
It took a bit (about 1.5 hours) but I did stop a couple of times.

In the end I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new vase and I think it looks more modern than the old one.  This was a great/easy update using things I already had on hand.  Next time I think I will have to put on my big girl pants and try more crafting.
I might actually go back and make the fade a bit higher so you can really see it when there are flowers and rocks in there

My Week (Mar. 31 - Apr. 06)

I know I'm a little late on this post but I had an eventful weekend so I was a little tired on Sunday and I slacked on writing it.

I finally wrapped up on all deadlines for fiscal year end.  It was a lot of hard work but it was all completed in time.
So much hard work, I just need a nap
After all of the very hard work I got to enjoy an extra long weekend.  The first day I laid around doing nothing but eating pizza and watching reality TV (it was a great day).

The second day I decided to tackle some of the things that had been neglected from all the crazy hours.  Which translates into 7 loads of laundry.
Doesn't look quite as impressive when it is on the floor.
Of course I did get to end that with a visit from my parents, who came up to visit this weekend.
They actually arrived earlier than thought so we went out for dinner at my favourite sushi restaurant where fun was had by all.
Say 'Sashimi' and try not too look too stuffed
Mom LOVED the mango shrimp rolls
We played a few games and had a great time, but no visit would be complete without our traditional breakfast out and my mom's favorite game ....mini golf.

So we hit up the local glow-in-the-dark place and had a great time.  Dad came in first followed very closely by the hubs.  I on the other hand was able to make an impressive bid for last place by being more than 10 points higher than anyone else.  In my defence I'm pretty sure the game was fixed.

It was a fun weekend of family and shenanigans.  Wish we lived a bit closer so that we could see them more often.

How was your weekend?  Did you get to spend anytime with family?
